Everything you need to know about a Himalayan Salt Lamp

THE SALT LAMP CRAZE

People went crazy when these salt bricks came on the scene awhile back but there was some talk that they were fake and the craze kinda died down.

Something happened and once again these tasty treats are back and better than ever. I know this, I work at a bargain outlet store and we can’t keep these humps of salt on the shelves.

These precious glowing salt mounds are supposed to help give you a better nights sleep, purify the air, balance out electromagnetic radiation, calm your allergies and asthma, boost energy and many more fun healthy things your body and mind are lacking.

That information might be all well and good but I can’t contest to any of that…yet.

THE PURCHASE

Just the other day my husband broke down and bought two lumpy salt piles for our apartment ($9.99 where I work + employee discount, so… Less than that). We’re hoping what we read is true and we can begin to turn back our life clocks and start to feel better.

So, currently I don’t have much to report on as it hasn’t even been a full week but I can tell you some very important information regarding these lamps.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

1) These bitches weigh like a ton, is it the salt, is it the light, is it the base? All I know is I had to carry two of those up the stairs and I wasn’t having it.

2) They light up the whole fucking room. They say to sleep with it on and that’s great for some but for most…a dark room is required to fall asleep. I didn’t have a problem with it but then I can fall asleep almost anywhere.

3) They are hot to the touch, I would let them cool down before you put your filthy mitts all over it.

4)  They definitely have a salty taste to them, I also think I might have burned the tip of my tongue. I also suggest tasting the lamp after it has cooled down.

HOW TO USE IT

We have been turning ours off at night and when we leave for work because I don’t want them burning the apartment down. Will they burn it down? I don’t know, but leaving things plugged in and on while I am not at home makes me nervous.

I also don’t know if they shrink or stop working after so long, don’t want to waste up precious salt lamp hours when we’re not around.

They come with a bulb that looks pretty standard, when that goes… just stick anther one in it.

There is also a nice little switch on the cord that you can turn on and off, this way you can keep it plugged in if you must.

Well I hope you enjoyed this useful information!

Talk at ya later.

  1. Did you actually lick the lamp?
Hahaha, I would have done the same thing. My mum had one of these when I was younger, but she ended up chucking it out because it was so big. I always worry about leaving things like lamps on and sockets. You never know if things will overheat!!
Also, can’t believe how much light it give off!!
